I started this blog and wrote a few posts with the hope of putting words to feelings that I didn’t quite understand. The feeling of not knowing myself completely and wanting a chance to figure me out. I was acknowledging that I felt uncertain and was giving myself the chance to recharge and restart a journey for peace and joy and certainty in who I am. But that was three years ago. The words I wrote then ring so true with me now, but I don’t recognize them. I thought that I feel the way I do now because of everything that has happened in the last three years. I was looking for the chance to restart even before the first visit to the fertility specialist, before the first time I gave myself a shot, before the ectopic pregnancy, before we moved again and the other health problems that put everything on hold, before the OHSS and first failed IVF. And now all of those things have happened and I am older and less sure of myself than ever before. Sometimes I speak and have a total out of body experience where I don’t recognize who is talking or why I am saying it. I don’t recognize the tired eyes staring back at me or the curves of the body that has disappointed me time and again. So here I am again knowing that I need a change. I need to take care of my body and my soul so that I can know and love myself. Not to please the people around me or to prepare for a pregnancy that may never happen, just for me. And honestly I don’t even think I want to, but I have to. It may be the only way for me to survive the life I’ve been given. That sounds so dramatic and ungrateful, but right now that’s how it feels. My body is broken, it doesn’t do the most basic instinctual thing it was designed to do. In turn, that has broken my mind and my heart. I don’t know if it is possible to feel whole again, but I’m going to try. I’m going to document the basics here from eating healthier and exercising to renewing my faith and finding joy in simple things so that when I’m at my lowest I can come back to see how far I’ve come.

This is probably the 5th blog I’ve started. It’s usually the same pattern. I search for the perfect title and theme, write that first post, then, the self-doubt starts. Who wants to read what I write? Why do I think anyone cares? There’s no chance I am interesting enough to create something like the sites I read.

I like to pretend that if I had unlimited time and money to do whatever I want I could be a writer. The truth is, I’ve never written anything and have no training or talent. I think about how easy it would be to be a full-time blogger or youtuber, but I actually have no good, original ideas for content. I like to say that I am a creative person, but the truth is I rarely create anything. Part of this is, honestly, because of my job – it sucks a lot of energy. Still, I think there is more inside of me and it needs an outlet. I saw a quote recently, maybe Neil Gaiman, unfortunately, I’m not sure, that said if you want to be a writer (or artist, musician, etc) just start doing it and for a while it will suck and you’ll know that it sucks, but eventually you’ll get better and it will stop sucking and then you’ll be what you set out to be.

This time is going to be different. I’m not going to care if anyone reads. I’m not going to worry about not having a clear purpose for what this blog is going to be. I’m going to do it and maybe it will be a personal journal or maybe recipes and DIY or maybe funny stuff I find on the internet or maybe even some writing. Whatever it is I hope it helps me learn more about myself.
